Who Are We Raising?
As parents, what are the qualities, morals, and beliefs you are instilling in your children? Is it important that they attend the best schools, have the best eduction, have high GPAs, and your friends and family are jealous of their accomplishments? OR, are you raising individuals who are aware of the importance of putting their best effort forward even if they are not perfect and sometimes fail? Are you raising individuals who are selfless? Are you raising individuals who are empathetic, kind, and caring?
Pause for a moment and ask yourself, "am I raising someone who will be a contributing member of society in more than one area or am I am a raising a self-centered workaholic?" Do your children see in you the qualities of a caring individual? Do they see someone who is not a perfectionist? It is okay to want to be your best, but are we instilling in our children that no one is perfect?
What the world needs is change, not perfectionism. We need kind human beings who are humble, caring, empathetic, and well rounded. After all, we have all experienced individuals with narcissi behaviors at some point in our lives and we definitely do not appreciate those interactions!
What are your thoughts on parenting and raising your children to be well-rounded?
